Links from gift it lists to retailers may earn us a small commission. Learn how this works — it never affects what's on anyone's list.

01

About gift it

gift it is a wishlist service that lets you build lists of things you'd like to receive as gifts, share those lists with the people who care about you, and help gifters coordinate without spoiling your surprises.

gift it is operated by gift it Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. These terms govern your use of the gift it website and any associated applications.

By creating an account or using gift it in any way, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

02

Using gift it

gift it is intended for personal, non-commercial use. You must be 18 or over to create an account.

When you use gift it, you agree not to:

  • use the service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that could harm others
  • attempt to access accounts, systems, or data that don't belong to you
  • reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract data from the service in bulk
  • upload content that is abusive, defamatory, or otherwise harmful
  • use automated means to create accounts or interact with the service
  • impersonate another person or organisation
  • attempt to disrupt or degrade the service for other users

We reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.

03

Your account

You can sign in to gift it using a magic link sent to your email address. You don't create a password. It's your responsibility to keep access to your email account secure.

You're responsible for everything that happens under your account. If you think someone has unauthorised access, please contact us at hello@giftit.club immediately.

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. We'll remove your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

04

Your content

When you add items to a wishlist — including product names, images pulled from third-party retailers, links, notes, and hints — you're responsible for ensuring you have the right to share that content.

Product images and information fetched from retailer pages belong to those retailers. gift it fetches this data to make adding items easier; it doesn't imply any commercial relationship with those retailers, and we don't store retailer content longer than necessary to display your list.

Your personal list content — notes, occasion dates, list names, and hints — belongs to you. We don't sell it or share it with third parties. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

By using gift it, you grant us a limited licence to display and process your content for the purpose of operating the service.

05

Gifters and coordination

gift it lets people who want to buy you a gift coordinate so they don't duplicate. Here's how the mechanic works — and what it means for you:

When a gifter marks an item as "I'll get this," that status is visible to other logged-in gifters viewing the same list. This prevents duplicate gifts. You, as the list owner, cannot see any of this activity until after your occasion date passes — or until you choose to reveal it yourself.

You agree to this arrangement when you create a list. It is the core mechanic of the service and cannot be disabled.

Gifters who view your list must have either been approved by you (for private lists), or be accessing a list you've made publicly visible. You control your list's privacy settings at all times.

Gifters who mark items as taken care of are expressing an intention, not making a binding commitment. gift it does not verify purchases, and we accept no liability for gifts that are not ultimately given.

06

Affiliate links and our commercial model

gift it is free to use. We sustain the service through affiliate commissions: when a gifter clicks a buy link on a list and makes a purchase, we may earn a small percentage of the sale from the retailer.

This is the primary way gift it makes money. We are transparent about it because we believe you have a right to know. Full details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

The commission comes from the retailer — it does not affect the price you pay. It does not affect what appears on anyone's list. We do not accept payment from retailers to feature, promote, or rank items on gift it.

Affiliate tracking requires placing a cookie on a gifter's device. We ask for consent before doing this. If consent is declined, buy links still work — they just pass through to the retailer without an affiliate tag, and we earn nothing on that purchase. No features are removed if you decline.

07

Privacy and cookies

We take your privacy seriously. Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR.

We use cookies for two purposes: to keep you signed in (strictly necessary, no consent required), and to track affiliate link clicks (non-essential, consent required). You can manage your cookie preferences at any time on our Cookie Settings page or from your account settings.

We will not place affiliate tracking cookies without your prior consent. Declining does not restrict your access to gift it in any way.

08

Intellectual property

The gift it name, logo, design, and all original content on the site are owned by gift it Ltd or licensed to us. You may not use them without our permission.

We respect the intellectual property of others. If you believe something on gift it infringes your rights, please contact us at hello@giftit.club.

09

Our liability to you

We provide gift it as a free service, doing our best to keep it available, accurate, and useful. However, we can't guarantee the service will be available at all times, error-free, or that retailer product information will always be current or accurate.

We are not a retailer. We do not process payments, fulfil orders, or handle returns. Any purchase you make through a buy link on gift it is entirely between you and the retailer.

To the extent permitted by law, gift it Ltd's liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before any claim — which, for most users, is zero. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.

10

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The "last reviewed" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.

Continuing to use gift it after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree with changes, you can close your account before they come into effect.

11

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless you are a consumer in another part of the UK, in which case applicable local law may also apply.
